C-section surgeries of pregnant women have been stopped at Niloufer Hospital, a well known hospital of the city, following the death of 5 women who died while delivering their babies at Niloufer Hospital in the course of just one week. The women underwent C-section surgeries, after which there was severe bleeding in some cases. The deaths occurred between January 28 and February 4 this year. Two snowshoers from Kashmir have alleged they have been denied visa to the US due to “current (US) policy”.
“Indian snowshoers denied visas, due to ‘current (US) policy’. This from our good friend Abid Khan, from Kashmir, minutes ago in our Facebook Messaging,” Clyde Rabideau, Mayor of the Village of Saranac Lake in New York, wrote on his Facebook page.
The snowshoers reportedly denied visas are Abid Khan and Tanveer Hussain. They were supposed to take part in the 2017 World Snowshoe Championships in New York from February 24-25.
Ishrat encounter accused top cop given extension

Gujarat’s Acting Director General of Police P.P. Pandey, who is an accused in the killing of Ishrat Jahan and associates in an alleged shootout, was given a three-month extension of service on Tuesday, the day he retired.

Five killed after gunmen open fire at Quebec City mosque

At least five people were killed and several others injured after three attackers opened fire inside the Quebec City mosque.
The Guardian quoted witnesses as saying that the shooting took place during evening prayers at the Quebec City Islamic Cultural Center.
It is being reported that around 40 people were present inside the mosque when the incident took place.

As much as 69 per cent of the total income of political parties over a period of 11 years came from unknown sources, said a report released on Tuesday by an NGO working towards electoral reforms.
According to the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), while the total income of 48 national and regional political parties between 2004-05 and 2014-15 stood at Rs 11,367 crore, the sources of as much as Rs 7,833 crore of it were untraceable.
