Saudi girl welcomed in Canada

The 18-year-old Saudi girl, Rahaf Alqunun, who fled her family from Kuwait to Thailand, has landed in Canada after being granted asylum in the nation.Hailing Alqunun as a very brave new Canadian , Canada s Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland welcomed her at Toronto airport on Sunday, reported Al Jazeera.Talking to media at the airport, Freeland stated that granted asylum to Alqunun was part of Canada s policy of supporting women and girls around the world. It s obvious that the oppression of women is not a problem that can be resolved in a day, but rather than cursing the darkness we believe in lighting a single candle.
