Cong meets DGP, seeks action against cops for assault on

A delegation of Congress Friday met Maharashtra DGP Datta Padsalgikar here and sought action against the policemen in Solapur, who allegedly assaulted party workers for showing black flags to Prime Minister Narendra Modi s convoy earlier this week. The prime minister was in Solapur on January 9 to launch various development projects. He dedicated four-laning of Solapur-Osmanabad section of NH-211 and also laid the foundation stone of 30,000 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY). Police in Solapur allegedly assaulted several Congress workers, including those from the party s youth and students wings, when they tried to protest against Modi. On Friday, the Congress delegation to the state Director General of Police (DGP) was led by party spokesperson Sachin Sawant here.
