Over 32 Kg gold seized by Customs at Attari border

In one of the biggest seizures by an Indian agency along the Indo-Pak border in the last 25 years, customs staff posted at the Integrated Check Post, Attari recovered over 32.65 kilograms, worth approximately Rs 10 crores, of gold from an apple consignment coming from Afghanistan on Thursday. An apple consignment was coming from Afghanistan via Pakistan and was stopped for a check at the Integrated Check Post, Amritsar. We ve recovered a total of 32.654 Kilograms of gold, it was concealed in the cavity of the consignment, Dipak Kumar Gupta, the Customs Commissioner told ANI.Initial examinations conducted by Customs Staff unearthed two gold bars weighing around 1.2 kg each from the base of a carton containing apples, according to an official press release issued by the Officer of the Commissioner of Customs in Amritsar.
